Less waiting. More watching.

Buffer ahead.
Parallel connections and a shared local cache keep data moving. Turn on resilient buffering when the connection gets uneven.
Find your moment.
Twelve clickable thumbnails, prepared seek points, and detected scene changes. Previews load in the background while you browse.
Keep your files close.
A folder browser beside the video. Move or download files, save a screenshot, and reopen your saved connections.
Take the bigger screen.
Video fullscreen on your Mac, or AirPlay to Apple TV. Zafina keeps buffering while the TV plays.

From download to play.

  1. Unzip and move. Open the ZIP and drag Zafina.app to your Applications folder.
  2. Choose a source. Use Connect… for a server, Open URL… for a direct HTTP video, or Torrent… for a magnet link or torrent file. Local files work too.
  3. Pick a video. Double-click it to play. Browse the next folder while it buffers, or press F and settle in.

A few details.

What can I send over AirPlay?

H.264 video with AAC audio in MP4/MOV plays directly. Compatible MKVs are repackaged without re-encoding the video or audio; the prepared copy is cached for next time. AirPlay can start with 30 seconds prepared ahead, or 120 seconds in Unstable connection mode, while the rest prepares in the background. Seeking beyond the prepared portion waits for it to arrive.

Text subtitles are retained with simpler styling. HEVC, DTS audio, and other formats that need transcoding still play locally, but aren’t supported over AirPlay yet.

Where do my passwords and cache go?

Saving passwords is optional. If enabled, they’re stored as plaintext in the owner-only ~/.zafina.json file on your Mac. No Zafina account is required.

Media uses a 4 GiB byte cache; prepared AirPlay copies have a separate 4 GiB cache. An active prepared file can exceed that limit and is removed when playback ends if it’s too large to retain.

Already using Harbor?

Same player, new name. Zafina migrates your saved connections, preferences, and trusted SSH hosts on first launch. Existing cached media is reused in place.
